The 2002 MET-Rx Celebrity Golf Shootout was held at half Moon Golf Club on 4/05, in conjunction with the MET-Rx SUPERSTARS competition. An exciting star-studded tradition, the Superstars
pioneered the made-for-TV sports genre in the 1970's and 1980's. It is staged and produced for CBS Sports by TWI in association with the SFX Sports Group. TWI, the television arm of Mark
McCormack's IMG, is the largest independent producer, packager and distributor of sports programs in the world. The 2002 production of THE SUPERSTARS is sponsored by MET-Rx, one of the most
widely respected names in the sports nutrition sector of the nutritional supplement business. Half Moon Resort and the Jamaican Tourist Board also helped to sponsor the event.
Participants in the 2002 event included: La Var Arrington (LB - Washington Redskins), Troy Brown (WR - New England Patriots), Jeff Garcia (QB - San Francisco 49ers), Tony Gonzalez (TE Kansas
City Chiefs), Ty Law (DB - New England Patriots), Curtis Martin (RB - NY Jets), Bode Miller (2 time 2002 Olympic Silver Medallist in Men's Combined and Giant Slalom). Jonny Moseley (1998 Gold
Medallist, Moguls), "Sugar" Shane Mosley (former WBC Welterweight Champion), Apolo Anton Ono (2002 Olympic Gold and Silver Medallist, speed skating), and Jim Shea (2002 Olympic Gold
Medallist, Skeleton).
A Celebrity Golf Shootout took place on April 5 and
included some great television personalities as well as two U.S. Olympic champions. From left to right they are:Jeffrey Nordling from "Once and Again" (a great
program that just found itself dropped from the ABC lineup - but which may come back due to the protests of a very loyal viewer following) , Bode Miller - U.S. Olympic
Silver Medalist in the 2002 Winter Olympics, Tom Calabro who has portrayed Michael Mancini on "Melrose Place", Carlos Bernard co-star on "24" one of the hottest
new series on TV and Jonny Mosley U.S. Olympic Gold Medalist.

Olympic Silver Medal Skier BODE MILLER won the Celebrity Golf Shootout at Half Moon. Also pictured are the three finalists of the competition on the eighteenth green.
Bode took the 5-hole
competition in a playoff at the beautiful and challenging 18th hole. Carlos missed hitting the green in regulation by a foot - and instead had to play his ball out
of deep sand with a completely buried lie. Tom Calabro was in a similar position, and narrowly missed a 12 foot putt for the tie.
Bode hit an excellent approach out of trouble and two-putted for the win. Good stuff! We had a chance to talk to all three celebrities, and found them to be wonderful, down to earth folks,
enjoying the wonderful golf and views at Half Moon. It was a fun day for all involved!
