Tierra del Sol Golf Club (011-297-586-0978)
Aruba Golf Course review
Located just 15 minutes from Orangestadt, Aruba, and designed by Robert Trent Jones II, Tierra del Sol Golf Club is one of the jewels of the Caribbean. This desert links course
winds its way along the coastline of Aruba’s northwestern shore and takes advantage of the arid conditions, elevation changes, nature preserves and natural water hazards that
dot this section of the island.
The property is immaculately groomed and landscaped with palms and cactus and features a beautiful clubhouse with a well stocked pro shop, luxurious lounge and restaurant
and and patio dining area that overlooks the golf course and the country club’s elegant swimming pool. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable, and service at Tierra del Sol
is first class all the way. Club rentals are Wilson and Callaway brand and Footjoy shoes are also available.
Practice facilities include a panoramic driving range and chipping and putting green. The course offers a “No Embarrassment Golf Clinic” for first timers and novice golfers as
well as advanced lessons from a PGA professional.
The course features well-manicured Tiff Eagle greens and Bermuda teeboxes and fairways. Four sets of tees provide ample selection for any level of player. The back tees play 6
,811 yards, middle tees play 6,453 and 6,011 yards, and the forward tees play a comfortable 5,022 yards. The slope and ratings for each teebox is 132/74.2, 121/73.9, 119/70.7,
and 121/70.6 respectively. There is a 150 yard stone near the cart path on every hole, some sprinkler heads are marked, and a ProLink GPS system on every cart provides
accurate measurements to hazards and the pin.
Although many fairways border the Caribbean shore, water only comes into play on a few holes. Typical hazards throughout the course are the many soft white sand bunkers,
stands of cacti and mounds of coral rock. The dominant factor, however, that determines play is the wind - even on the greens. Otherwise, the fairways are fairly wide and
accommodating and the greens large, fast and true.
Tierra del Sol was host to the 1998 Shell’s Wonderful World of Golf challenge featuring Payne Stewart and Nick Price and annually hosts several major Caribbean golf
tournaments.
The beautiful layout, gorgeous views, tropical/desert ambiance, challenging wind and impeccable conditions of this course make it a must play when visiting Aruba. Stay and Play
packages can be arranged through the course or through many of the island’s resorts. For more information on Tierra Del Sol, visit our detailed information form by clicking here.
