GENERAL INFORMATION

With 2 courses designed by Jack Nicklaus and Tom Weiskoph, Vista Vallarta has been recognized as one of the top golf properties in Mexico. In fact, recently both golf courses at the Vista Vallarta Club de Golf were ranked in the top ten for resort golf courses in Mexico by a panel of experts and published in Best Golf Guide to the Mexican Rivera Magazine.

Owned and managed by Club Corp, the facilities include short game and driving range practice areas, multiple putting greens, plus a luxurious clubhouse with a restaurant, bar and lounge, verandas, golf shop, and on-course beverage service.  The entire property is situated in a lush, tropical setting, and the service is awesome!

We played the Weiskoph course in early May and found the course to be in great shape from tee to green. 5 sets of tee boxes play to distances and slopes measuring 6993 yards/138 slope, 6466 yards/130 slope, 5876 yards/126 slope, 5159 yards/118 slope and 4943 yards with s lope of 121 for ladies hitting from the red tees. There is a mix of open and tightly tree lined fairways, but golfers will find ample landing zones on most holes. Avoiding the plentiful fairway bunkers is a key to scoring well here.

The green complexes are medium sized to large, with gently sloping putting surfaces. We often read more break to our putts, which often played relatively straight. Golfers will often be playing from uneven lies, with the ball below or above the feet, or side-hill. Bunkers are strategically placed greenside, but the soft sand is relatively easy to manage. There are numerous carries over dry creek beds and arroyos.

Colored coded flags indicate the front, middle or back pin placements, and 100, 150 and 200 markers as well as sprinkler heads provide estimated yardages along the well manicured fairways on all par fours and fives. There are 4 beautifully designed par threes, 4 par fives and 10 par fours.

This is a gorgeous facility – we highly recommend spending the day or two here to play each course.
